Sam & Sammie Close

2011

Sammie   12''x 42''x 12''

Sam          14''x 48''x 13''

Sam raised his head and said:

Sam:  I’ve had enough of this togetherness.

I’m an old dog, and I don’t want to die like this.

I want to sing a song to someone who wants to hear it.

I want someone to sing a song to me who wants to sing it.

           I’ve had enough.

Sammie raised one eye lid and said:

Sammie:  You have not told me what’s inside your head for years.  I’ve noticed that you have been acting more strange since your friend Harry got run over by the popsicle truck last month.  I’m upset, I’m shocked; I must say that I don’t know what to say.

Sam:    Well, you could have a new thought and say, “Say it again for me, Sam.”

Hattie Mae:

Sammie has been finishing Sam’s sentences for him for years, laying his eggs so to speak.  I have never seen her hatch one.  Mostly she spends her time practicing yesterday.  There have been no songs in this house for some time.

I won’t have to watch closely to see further developments in this relationship.
